Some people come to the center for a little help; others come for a lot. Some come for a few weeks or months; others remain active for years. We help people to become healthy, find jobs, live in the community, go back to school, make friends, and ― most important ― manage their illnesses.
Our recovery program focuses on helping members enhance their “daily living” skills and develop their support network. Stress management, health and fitness education, artistic self-expression, social activities, sports ― these are just a few of the avenues toward recovery that we offer in the clubhouse. Also, members can receive support for substance abuse and medication management.
Fifty adults live in permanent supported housing. In the center’s homes, residents find companionship, healthy meals, a daily schedule, personal responsibility, and continuity. Members help each other ― and are helped by case managers and house managers ― to live independently.
For our members ― just like everyone else ― work gives structure and purpose to the day. Through our supported employment program, nearly 40 percent of our members work for companies in the surrounding communities.
Finally, in our health and wellness programs we help members with nutrition, exercise, weight control, and smoking cessation because physical health and mental health go hand-in-hand.
